This is a special way of being afraid

Can fear a thing it will not feel, not seeing
That this is what we fear - no sight, no sound,
No touch or taste or smell, nothing to think with,
Nothing to love or link with,
The anasthetic from which none come round.
And so it stays just on the edge of vision,
A small, unfocused blur, a standing chill
That slows each impulse down to indecision.
Most things may never happen: this one will,
And realisation of it rages out
In furnace-fear when we are caught without
People or drink. Courage is no good:
It means not scaring others. Being brave
Lets no one off the grave.
Death is no different whined at than withstood.
Slowly light strengthens, and the room takes shape.
It stands plain as a wardrobe, what we know,
Have always known, know that we can't escape,
Yet can't accept. One side will have to go.
Meanwhile telephones crouch, getting ready to ring
In locked-up offices, and all the uncaring
Intricate rented world begins to rouse.
The sky is white as clay, with no sun.
Work has to be done.
Postmen like doctors go from house to house.

No certainty..Absolutely.
When we lose someone close..Strange things can occur in how one feels towards Death and all it entails.
I have an open mind.
But if heaven does exist...I hope its tailor made...or I will be bored senseless.

Just because the theory has a projection, (between the space we inhabit and one where the laws of physics are simpler) it doesn't mean there's a simulation, let alone someone running it.
You've taken an analogy too literally

Where do all the dead insects go? There are millions of billions in the world now and they go back hundreds of millions of years. Or is just humans that have an afterlife?

I heard a while ago that some scientists believe that we may actually be living in some sort of holographic simulation.
I find that hard to buy into For starters, who is running this simulation, and why? Not to mention, HOW??
However, it wouldn't need extraordinary evidence. Just a standard level of evidence, like anything else.
Anyway, I just wanted to point out that the apparent CERTAINTY that anyone one either side of the argument might express is unfounded.
That is all I have to say on this matter.

But then, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I'm not certain and I doubt anyone could be, but I haven't seen any convincing evidence of it. It's more likely that people who see angels or a white light as they're dying are actually just dreaming it.
Besides lack of evidence, the other problem with the idea of an afterlife is that it very much feels like wishful thinking.

Two points on that.
Firstly, if there is another world/dimension then it may well be that it is not governed by the same laws that scientists use to make determinations. Therefore 'scientific evidence' may not be applicable.
Secondly, you can make assumptions based on probability, for sure, but many people make DEFINITIVE statements as rock solid FACT.
They have no grounds to do so.

I find it rather interesting that some people have such certitude that there is NOTHING beyond this mortal coil.
I have heard sufficient accounts, plus some small amount of personal experience, to be open to there being another dimension into which our persona might pass when our body expires.
Either way, I don't know for sure, and neither does anyone else, no matter how strong their BELIEF is.

...and I'll say to you again, literally millions of living things die every day and besides a few dodgy double-exposed photos there is ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE EXISTING IN THE WORLD that anything has ever come back from beyond the grave.
Surely people making the case for magical superstition have to have the onus of evidence that it exists, not the other way around?
